On Thursday, Oct. 12, about 40 new members were inducted into Leon’s National English Honor Society.
The ceremony was private and took place in the lower level of the media center during lunch. Members entered and listened to a short speech by club vice president Julie Rapuzzi.
Then members recited the motto of the club and finally shook hands with Rapuzzi, who was also the director of the ceremony.
Afterwards, refreshments were held for the club members in sponsor Michele Hadden’s classroom.
“We are excited about this year and we hope to make a lot of strides and be more involved,” Rapuzzi said.
NEHS hopes to hold a workshop to peer review students’ college applications, and have many other literature-based volunteer opportunities around the school.
