On Friday, Dec. 1, the Leon Lions boys soccer team will put its unbeaten record on the line against rival Chiles High School.,

The junior varsity squad will play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity at 7 p.m.

Leon is 4-0 and has yet to be scored upon.

“The team definitely has room for improvement,” junior Collins Proctor said. “We need to work on creating and finishing chances, defensive shape and working the ball around the back.”

Proctor has been playing for Leon soccer the past three years and made the varsity team his sophomore year. Earlier this season, he suffered a concussion and hasn’t been able to play, but he just recently has been cleared.

Although Proctor is now able to play, starter John Riley Bohnstengel tore a ligament in his ankle during soccer practice this week, and will not be able to play for some time.

“I stepped on a kid’s foot during practice and my ankle just folded,” said Bohnstengel.

Also, sophomore Henry Regalado and junior Jadens Jones-Riley will not be in the game because they are playing in a tournament at the IMG Academy. Both are starters as well.

The team is positive it will be a good year.

“To me, it looks like it’s going to be a good season,” Proctor said. “We’re planning to go far.”
