On Friday, April 7, The Happenings performed at The Tallahassee Democrat as a part of Tallahassee’s music week, a nine day long celebration of music and the talent of local performers.
“We would love to play with Tallahassee Music Week again,” said junior Erin Hill.
She said that they’ll hopefully be getting bigger gigs around town with other Tallahassee organizations.
The Happenings already have an upcoming performance at Battle of The Bands at Lincoln, where they will be opening the competition at 6:45.
“We really hope we’ll win,” said Hill. “We have an amazing setlist and we’re all working really hard. It all comes down to the audience. I think our biggest competition is here at Leon.”
“We have some absolutely killer musicians here and that can be intimidating. The Good Little Chickens are definitely our biggest competition.”
Hill said that as they performed more they began to change their setlist.
“We’ve gotten bored of some of the songs we play so we’re constantly switching them out,” Hill said. “We try to keep the specific gig in mind and learn certain songs for the location.”
Hill said that they’re looking forward to receiving more exposure.
“I think a lot of people know who we are but we want to reach out more to schools and throughout the community,” said Hill.
