On Dec. 2,  junior Emma McGibany made a verbal commitment to play soccer at Appalachian State University.

“This is my dream school,” McGibany said. “It still doesn’t seem real.”

McGibany has been playing soccer since she was four years old. She’s been starting for varsity since she was a freshman.

“I grew up playing on a competitive club team that attended top showcases, trained with a technical coach, a speed/power coach, and attended many ID camps,” said McGibany.

McGibany is very excited to be living in Boone, North Carolina, where ASU is located.

“I’ve always wanted to live in the mountains and Boone is awesome,” she said. “Everyone has been so nice already.”

Living 10 hours away from home will be a challenge.

“It’s going to be rough going from 90-degree weather to playing in the snow, but I can’t wait,” she said.
