Leon fall sports are now entering into the end of each of their respective regular seasons and many teams are setting their sights on the postseason.

Here’s a brief look at each sport:

Football: the Leon football team has not won a game so far this season. The team is struggling with offensive line play as well as lack of cohesion on the team. The Lions will look to win their first game against Lincoln on Thursday night at Cox Stadium. The game is both Pink Out and Senior Night.

Volleyball: the Lady Lions will travel to Choctaw High School on Tuesday, Oct. 10, to face a team which has beaten the Lions two years in a row. The team will focus on the postseason after that game as they will face the winner of Lincoln-Chiles match in the district finals.

Girls golf: the Lady Lions will compete in the district tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The team is stacked with seniors. The team went to the regional championship last year and looks to return there this season.

Cross Country: the Lions, led by Joseph Ashebo and John Riley, will compete in the Red Hills cross country meet this Saturday, Oct. 14. The team has had tremendous success the past couple years and this meet is a benchmark for their postseason effort.

Swimming and Diving: the Lions have two meets this week. The first will be Tuesday, Oct. 10., when the team will face the reigning state championship winning Chiles Timberwolves. On Wednesday, Oct. 11, the team will host Lincoln at Morcom Aquatics Center for its Senior Night.
