On Saturday, Oct. 7, the Annual Poker Run will take place again despite some complications during planning.
For the Poker Run, groups and clubs will be driving cars to five different stops and picking up a playing card at each stop, and the best five-card hand will be the winning team. The event will take place in order to raise funds for the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Center to assist with fundraising during cancer month. Car decorating will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the Leon High School campus, and the competition will begin at 9 a.m.
However, this year brought some complications during planning which required some extra effort.
“We’ve had a lot of trouble getting this together,” Student Government Association adviser Josh Stewart said. “Between the storms, the cancelled football games and trying to work around everyone’s schedules, it’s been really hard on SGA.
“This year there’s been a lot of enthusiasm and excitement surrounding the Poker Run, and I think it will go as well as we could expect it to.”
