My plans for Valentine’s Day
By June Lee
Here are the things I’m looking forward to doing on Valentine’s Day:
Gloves and Scarf
I’m guessing that high school couples generally spend anywhere from $10 to $50 on Valentine’s gifts for each other.
Malls will be having special sales and deals just for this occasion. I intend on buying myself a new pair of gloves and a scarf for this chilly weather.
Hit the Gym
I want to go to the gym at least twice a week this year. At my gym, there is an Advanced Pilates class at 1:15 p.m. on Sundays. Pilates is another name for a super intense ab workout. The class is challenging and fun at the same time.
Watch a Movie
I love watching movies. I can either stay home and watch a good thriller, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or an old favorite, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
I can also go to the movie theatre and watch one of the new releases of the month: Dear John or Valentine’s Day.
Eat Sweets
Our local Walgreens and CVS pharmacies have an entire Valentine’s Day section. Walking through this section, you can spot candles, teddy bears, cards and hearts.
Mostly, candies dominate these aisles. These aisles are filled with the sweetest goodies ever: Hershey kisses, Godiva chocolate bars, Candy Hearts, Red Hot cinnamon heart candies. The list goes on and on.
I’m excited to indulge in one of those incredible hazelnut chocolates from Ferrero Rocher. Aren’t you?
Scrumptious Dinner
I love sweets, but I love a good meal. At urbanspoon.com, I found d a list of the top 10 restaurants for Valentine’s Day. The list included Ted’s Montana Grill, The Melting Pot, The Crepe Vine and Tan’s Asian Cafe, among others.
I was particularly excited to see two of my favorites: Bonefish Grill and Chili’s. I’ll choose one of those.
Contact Friends
I have to admit, I am guilty of sending mass text messages to friends, saying, “Merry Christmas!” or “Happy 2010!”
For Valentine’s Day, I just plan on sending text messages, with the celebratory, “Happy V-Day,” to both my closest and missed friends.
Via Skype, I will also contact my sister, who is away at college.
Even though Valentine’s Day is mainly for couples, I plan on having an active day for myself.
These plans don’t involve much. I’m just looking forward to a stress-free, indulging day.
